Unhappy Trouble Turning over (starting)

My '07 TL has 43k miles and just starting weirding out on me this morning. Thought I might check the battery this afternoon.

Problem-All electronics flicker several times as the car turns over when starting. It takes longer to turn over. Not sure if it's relevant to the problem, but now the Autofeature in the driver window doesn't work. Still operates but doesn't have auto up/down. Safety mechanism (letting me know there's an issue)? Not sure.

If anyone has any suggestions or has had this problem please let me know.

Have the battery tested. Local auto store should afford this service.

Your battery is just about dead and gone-- I'd get a new battery today or tomorrow, then reset the auto-windows feature (which often disappears when the battery is disconnected/dead).

BTW, your battery may still be under warranty.
If it's still a full replacement at your TL's age & mileage, get the dealership to change it out.
If the battery is at the prorated stage, just get a battery from Costco or somewhere.

Welcome to AZ.

It was the battery, but that presents another problem Turbonut... The battery was stickered with 08/08 by the manufacturer. That battery probably isn't even 2yrs old. I had the alternator checked and it's fine. Think there might be a direct short somewhere, but have no clue where to start looking. Any thoughts?

Great help Will! That helped out a lot, but it is indeed out of warranty What do you think?

Well if it has a mfg. date of 8/08 in an '07 vehicle, then it has already been replaced once.
How long have you owned the car? Normally an excess draw will kill the battery pretty quickly.

Since April this year but I've put 13K miles on it already. Excess draw?

Something may be drawing too much power after you shut off the car-- maybe the HFL/Bluetooth; the '04 TL had a TSB for the HFL.

The other possibilities are loose battery cables (check them-- the car/ground cable and the positive post clamp seem to get loose) or perhaps a marginal alternator which is not recharging the battery.

G/L.

I'd replace the battery if you haven't already. I replaced my OEM battery (8/08) with an Interstate a month or two back. Hasn't given me any problems.

If a fully charged battery just dies overnight, have someone do a Parasitic Draw test.

OEM batteries are known to be bad, so if u replaced ur battery with oem i would say try to go aftermarket now, and you should be fine
