Trouble removing/replacing door panel screws
Trouble removing/replacing door panel screws
Howdy! I ran into a bit of trouble removing my door panels to install moleskins...wondering if anyone else had the same thing happen. On one of my doors, I had a hard time removing the screw with the rubber ring around it. Basically, the part in the door that it was screwed in to was loose, spinning with the screw. I was able to get the screw out by pulling out on the panel while unscrewing, but the same trick didn't work when replacing the screw, leaving it pretty loose. I'm wondering if this might be the source for one of my door rattles.
Has anyone had this same problem? Is it worth trying to get the dealer to fix it? Thanks for the help!

No screw problem
There is nothing wrong with the screw inserts. All of these plastic inserts are rotating with the screws.
You have to use the special screwdriver which holds the insert while unscrewing or screwing.

Thanks for the info. Unfortunately for me, it's the first I've heard of using a special tool to remove the panel (the instructions with my moleskin said to just use a normal screw driver). Is there a common name for the special screw driver I can use to search for it?
I managed to get it out using another screw driver (tiny flathead) and wedge it in there from the side. Once I got the door panel off I used superglue to prevent it from rotating ever again...
Special tool pfft. Super glue.
I also think that you can pull the rubber around the screw off if all else fails.
