Trip Computer

Just bought new TL-S and have filled the gas tank twice. Trip computer displays I have 233 miles to go both times , averaged 20 mpg. My 06 TL would a least say 300 plus mile to go, am I missing something or need a traip to the dealer?
Thanks for the help.

The trip computer says you can drive 233 miles before you run empty or you drove 233 miles from the last time you reset the trip meter?

how many miles on the car?Honda motors get bad gas mileage form the factory fill oil due to the extra additives in it to reduce engine wear due to break in. As soon as you get your oil change, it will improve and with more mileage it will improve.

Good info, think will wait and see, have 450 miles. Fill up only takes 11 gallons with 44 miles to go.

Does anyone in the Daytona area auto-x their TL?

Thanks for the help.

So what does this "miles to go" stuff mean? I didn't know that the trip meter tells you how many "miles to go" before you run out of gas?

Not really "how many "miles to go" before you run out of gas". But, how many miles before you hit the "3 gallon reserve". So to speak, once you hit "E", there is another three gallons before you REALLY run out of fuel.

Okay. I understand 3 gallons left when on "E." But how come the OP said that he has "233 miles to go"? 233/3 = 78. That means he averages 78 mpg when he's on "E" and we know that can't be right.

The 233 miles to go refers to 233 miles until the 3 gallon reservoir, or usago of @ 14 gal.

If it's standard on the TL, I'm sure the TL-s has the feature.

Trip Computer With Average Speed, Average Fuel Consumption, Miles To Empty, Stop Watch and Trip Odometer.

I think it's called "Range" (not "Miles to Empty"). On mine, it's the next page after the AVG MPG, etc. info. Actually, I think the navi hack version calls it range and the MID calls it Miles to Empty.

Nope, there are only 2 members on this site from daytona, me and videojock. there is no place to auto cross here really. You gas mileage will improve as you get into a thousand miles.

The Range is on "Page 2 of 2" so to speak. With the MID, scroll over to the MPG display, then hit the other button the flip to "Page 2 of 2".

Once you are on the Trip Computer Screen (shows avg mpg, avg mph, etc) you get to "page 2" by pressing the "down arrow" button on steering wheel MID controls.

If you still can't find it, RTFM.

The "Range" # 233 in your case may be preceded by a > indicating more than 233 miles to go

Anybody know how "Range" or "Miles to Go" is actually calculated? Is it based on MID avg MPG or what?

MPG times the gas left in tank. Also I have an type S with 3.5K miles on it and it is getting aobut 400 miles to the tank. I push it to the limits since its a loaner and it still is getting some good MPG.

My fuel light warning comes up when my Range = 27 miles. When I filled up, I added 13.0 gallons. Thus, I had about 4.0 gallons left in the tank when I filled up. After I fill up to a full tank, my range says 270 miles.

Prior to filling up, the trip computer calculated I averaged 17 mpg.

For anyone wishing to read more regarding this topic, here are two more threads.
By the way, the "Fuel tank capacity observations" thread is damn good and should really be in the 3rd Group Garage (hint, hint to any moderators).

Fuel tank capacity observations (click here)

Are you worried to wait until the MID indicates "RANGE = 0" ??? (click here)
