Transmission 'thrash"

I have a 2007 TL with automatic transmission. When the car is cold and I shift into drive, I hear the sound of metal striking metal... call it a bang or clunking sound. Mind you, I am not slamming it into drive. If I hold down the brake very hard and slip it into drive slowly the sound is less prominent. When the car warms up, it doesn't happen at all. I brought the car in for service. The dealer called transmission 'thrash', said there was nothing wrong, it wasn't harming anything, and dismissed it. They said to let the car warm up. I thought that was a pretty lame answer. This is my second TL, having had an 04 before . This never happened on my 04. Frankly, its never happened with the 15 odd cars I have owned and that includes some real cheapies.

Before I take this furhter up the food chain at Acura, I was hoping for some advice. You all are always very helpful and one or two steps ahead of BS doled out by Acura service.

Thanks!!

This has been the issue of several threads - it happens to most of our cars, is not an 07 Acura only issue and there appears to be no TSB addressing the it. I find that if I shift to neutral before I start the car there is less noise.
