Transmission Repair

Hey everyone, This is my first post and this site has been my go to place for anything related to my TL. Thank you all

I recently had to replace the transmission in my 05 TL. I wasnt too happy about the close to $5K price tag though. After a couple days of driving I noticed the temp getting exceedly high almost past the high point on the thermo. Turns out the shop never added coolant back into the radiator from the repair. Easy fix not a huge deal. But for the price I paid I would think I would have my car back to 100%.

Does anyone know if the radiator is hooked up to the Transmission in any way. And would them replacing the tranny cause coolant to get out of the radiator?

Thanks for any help everyone

I don't how it's hooked up to transmission but I believe there maybe a line going through the radiator or something to keep our transmission fluid cool. FYI... You should not have let your engine overheat like that the reason being is now the engine will not be the same. You may need a new head gasket, maybe need to inspect the heads, not to mention the engine may start burning oil

Did you drive it without water in the radiator? I would bring it back to dealer and throw a fit!

Thanks for the Reply guys. I tried my best not to let the engine get over H for any time. I was away from home when I noticed it happening. Luckly it was mostly highway driving back home and the temps stayed within normal ranges as long as I kept moving anything over 20 MPH.

I called the trans shop where we had it repaired they claim no coolant was lost. However I find it funny that I did not have any sort of cooling issues before the car went into the Trans shop. Then we get it back and all of a sudden there is an issue. Something doesnt seem right to me.
