Hello all,
First time posting here. I wanted to get some insight on an engine/transmission noise that has cropped up. As I write this post, my '05 TL with auto trans and about 1100 mi., is at the dealer with the following problem: There is a ticking/knocking noise that sounds like it's coming from the engine and I hear it on acceleration from about 2000-3000 rpm. At no other rpm do I hear it. Alway in that range. Also, I don't hear the noise when the trans is in neutral.
Has anyone else had a similar problem? My dealer says it's normal and other TL's they drove had the same noise.

Hey... my car had a chirping noise around that same range, 2000 to 3000 rpm's... they replaced the heat shield and now, there's no noise. a ton of other people have also had teh same problem w/ their heat shield, if you do a search on it, you'll find more info.

does your car have any other problems besides that... cause i only have about 1000 miles on mine, and there's like a whinning sound coming from the engine when i accelerate...

Thanks for the reply. No other significant problems, just an interior rattle they fixed already. No other engine noise.
