Transmission? Mounts?

I recently replaced my engine mounts I had replaced the front two and than the rear one a few weeks later, after replacing the rear the car was free of all symptoms for about 3 weeks than all the sudden everything slowly started happening again, it vibrates, more when the AC is on, and less when in neutral.
But my main concern since the whole vibration thing is over my head having replaced all the mounts is that when shifting from 1st to 2nd there is a slight delay and if I accelerate at a certain rate there is sometimes a clunk. (slow acceleration I can feel a slight delay but no clunk, fast acceleration I can sometimes feel a very slight delay but no clunk)
I did change the pressure switches and 3x3 with redline ATF, I can say I did have the issue with first gear before the 3x3, and it may have even been worse especially in the morning.
Also, I am confident the clunk when going from 1st to 2nd became worse as the mount symptoms returned.
My concern at this point is the transmission, I can live with vibration.
Is this something the dealer could diagnose? Just not sure what step to take next.

Hey Bro,

I'm assuming you probably have checked to make sure the vac lines didn't become disconnected from the motor mounts as this would cause vibration. How are your transmission mounts looking? Both of mine broke when I was replacing my mounts awhile back so I had to replaced those also. I started getting horrible shifts and now that they are replaced and all is well. Hopefully this helps!

checked my vac lines they were connected, as far as a leak or anything, not sure how I would check that.. The tranny mounts looked fine from what I could see, but I did not remove the filter box to get a full view.
Another thing i noticed is when switching to reverse I hear a click sometimes.
The only other thing I can think to do is another drain and refill of the tranny oil, but it is still red and I dont think that would help as I did a 3x3 it about 10k miles ago

Tranny mounts are major! It's the diff between "thud" shifting and smooth shifting. You may want to try taking off the driver side wheel and check the 2 lower tranny mounts. Those were the ones that split on me and caused my hard shifts. Let us know what you find!

I was changing my oil today and my front mount vacuum hose was only about 1/4th the way on, I was able to slide it about 1/2 the way up the connector and that appeared to be the bulk of my problem. my shifting from 1st to 2nd isnt perfect, but def. no clunk or unreasonable delay. Also, the vibration from neutral to drive is the same.
I think what happened is when I was having my rear mount installed they took out the front one before realizing they were supposed to be swapping the back, and until the back one broke it it must have had a stronger hold, but after a few weeks the fact that the front one was not hooked up properly caused the symptoms to reappear.

We have 3 motor mounts and 3 tranny mounts on our cars. When inspecting the tranny mounts you will want to remove your air box and look at the upper mount. It will be obvious if it needs to be replace. The lower mounts can be easily viewed by removing the driver side wheel. You will see a mount on each side of the tranny. Look for cracks or separation in the rubber.

They are generally called engine mounts. individually the name varies. Here are all the parts for an 05 Auto. Kinda a mess of bits. They are as follows:

- Engine Rear 8
- Engine Side 11
- Engine Front 12
- Trans Lower Front 15
- Trans Lower Rear 16
- Trans Upper 17

ok gotcha. is this something that can easily be done or do you have to take it to a shop?

It really depends on how comfortable you are with doing this job. Personally, I don't think it's that bad. I've replaced every mount on my car myself in my garage with a floor jack and jack stands. The hardest mount to replace is the rear engine mount. This one is not as common to go bad like the front and side. The correct tools will also make your job easier. If you have any questions about this job, feel free to PM me.
