Transmission fluid overfill question.

Transmission fluid overfill question.
I did a drain and fill last night on my recently purchased 07 type S automatic. Noticed that 4 quarts drained out so I put 4 quarts back in, now i'm about a half an inch over the full dot on the dip stick. So I want to do another drain and fill tonight to get it to the right level. Basically my question is what should be my process for checking the fluid? I know the manual says to get it up to temp, then turn off the engine wait 60 seconds but not longer than 90 seconds, then check it. But I kinda want to creep up to the full mark...like add two quarts, check it, fill a little bit, then check it again, then go from there. But should I start the car every time before I check the fluid level? I'm not sure how much time the fluid needs time to settle to the pan so I can get an accurate reading on the dip stick. The gap between the low and full mark on that dip stick is like an eighth of an inch, so this might be a pain in the ass. Thanks for any advice!

Did 4 quarts drain out because it was warm when I drained it? Every DIY I read or watched on youtube has only drained out 3 quarts. Should I wait for the engine to cool down before I do my next drain and refill?

why would you do ANOTHER drain and refill when you just put new fluid in..
why not just crack the drain bolt to drain out the extra...?

To do the 3X3 method. First time I took it to the dealer(because I couldn't break loose the fill bolt), did the second last night. Now I'll do the third tonight. Just want to get my process down so I can get the correct amount of fluid in there.

yeah you see.. that information could have been included in the OP. Nowhere did you mention a 3x3 so we were to just infer all this information?
your method of 'creeping up' sounds like a sound approach but why not just drain the transmission, pour in 3. if less than full, pour a little more, if more, drain out a bit.
You're really overthinking this, it's just transmission fluid, not rocket science
