transmission flare, 06 tl

so i have a transmission flare thats been going on for a few months now, happens only during 2-3 or downshifting from 4-3, but it happens much more frequently when downshifting. these flares only happen in specific circumstances, for example it flares if i decide to slow down to just under 40 kmh and need to accelerate back up to speed (slowing down for a red light that turns green) and i give it light throttle it will flare by 1k rpms. i would have to give it moderate throttle to avoid this. similarly every time i accelerate from a stop i would have to give it more throttle initially (think of enough throttle to upshift at 2.2-2.5k rpm when i want to upshift at 1700 or 1800 because residential zones) to avoid flaring while upshifting, presumably so the transmission knows to add more pressure to engage 3rd gear faster. this happens in sport shift too.

before this all started back in january i did notice that during a cold start, i can feel 2nd disengage, and feel 3rd engage right after, with an obvious gap in acceleration that isnt apparent in other upshifts (even though i know that gear shifts in this car are more firm than other cars), and this only happens on the first 2-3 upshift while cold. didnt think much of it because it wasn't flaring at the time, just felt like a manual clutch shift.

its on its 2nd transmission (first one failed last november but i was able to daily drive it for a week in 3rd gear before it started slipping) so ever since i had it swapped in i had the transmission fluid changed with every oil change (2 changes so farr), put almost 35k kms so far and due for another oil change later this year. also changed both pressure switches in may after the flaring started and while it helped a lot it still happens occasionally. i have grown accustomed to how the transmission acts so 9/10 times i can avoid flares. i also took apart the solenoids under the intake to clean the screens inside but they were already clean when i inspected them, so this leads me to believe that some solenoid somewhere is incorrectly tuned to delay shifts into 3rd.

any thoughts? questions?

Because there are gobs and gobs of transmission flaring/slipping threads on here already. You say you are already changing the fluid...but you don't mention what fluid you are using, nor what condition the fluid appears to be in. Did you replace the pressure switches? There was also another thread on here in the past week where the filter had started to come apart and had blocked some of the passages.

Trust me i have read through every last one of those threads. if you read above i already said that i changed both pressure switches already and inspected the solenoids. I had read that thread about his filter falling apart too. I only used oem dw1 fluid changed with every oil change. Atf was always in good condition with no burnt smell and no pieces in the fluid. If you have any more questions dont hesitate to ask

IMHO, It appears, at this point, that your best bet to proceed would be to seriously consider an AV6 transmission swap and be done with your current unit?

ok so i think i have some good news

so remember the part where i said that i changed the pressure switches? the source (oemacuraparts) of these pressure switches turn out to be fake. because i went to the honda dealer and forked out the $100 to get an authentic 3rd gear switch, and there are some differences between the actual authentic switch and the one from oem acura parts, which i have seen users on here recommend, despite it coming in a honda bag. the main difference is the connector on the actual oem part is longer than the fake one.

so now that i have installed and know that i have genuine pressure switches, paired with my routine oil/atf change, the flare has become non existant and i believe my problem has been solved.

since this glass transmission is a time bomb regardless, i will be saving up for av6 swap when/if this one blows up. if anyone knows any skilled mechanic in the gta/toronto area lmk!

^it's an acura dealer.....it's not fake. OEMACURAPARTS.com is Acura of Peoria 9190 W Bell Rd, Peoria, AZ 85382
but perhaps the part was revised or changed.

did you take photos of the two?
