Transmission external filter replacement?
Hey TL fam... First let me apologize for the length of this post but would appreciate advice... so I was looking up info on transmission fluid change and I stumbled across an article on Acurazine (link below) that references an external filter. I had never heard of that and neither had a lot of others that I've talked to so wanted to get your guys input. I did the fluid exchange before and simply drained then refilled. This one I found today shows the "external" filter which is accessible taking out the air box and unbolt the ATF inlet line bolt, pull out the filter (multiple YouTube videos I watched and they were all filthy and basically crumbled) so put a new filter in. You can buy a kit that has the filter, o-rings, everything you'd need to replace it... Anyways, do you guys replace this? I've read it's only to keep the fluid clean which is different from the main filter which is internal and that's the main one that if it gets clogged it causes the transmission to fail. I have a buddy who is a mechanic out of his home and he said Alldata software he uses doesn't even mention it. Thoughts on this?
