I have an 06 Acura TL and the gears are acting up there was a point in time where the car was just sitting in my drive way getting rained on etc. now as soon as I start to drive off I have to shift it to second gear to avoid having the rpms just rev also as I come to a stop light or stopping the car does a jult but only as I am stopping I took it to a "transmission specialist" who did a free diagnostics test but couldn't receive any electrical signal keep in mind that my dashboard is not working except for my radio so the specialist said he thinks it's an electrical problem vs a transmission problem but the only problem is he wants to charge me $340 for an electrical diagnostics test now on the other hand my father is telling me that he doesn't think it's electrical problems as much as he thinks it's a relay problem because something with the transmission oil getting water into it because of a busted who knows what if anyone can help me get a better understanding of what is really going on instead of having to pay for a diagnostics and a new transmission thank you

 

You should check all the fuses first to see if any are blown.

Check the ATF level.

If you think there is water in the trans then drain the ATF to confirm or deny.

That would be a good place to start.
