Ok so im recently having some transmission issues. I have an 04 Tl its got about 82k on it. I think my transmission is going and wanted to hear some comments and what you guys think. So at the start the car drives fine. Once i get on the highway and punch it the engine starts revving and car doesnt move, then it engages and acceleration increases. I can drive normal and the car seems fine.

This only happens when/if i punch the peddle. There are no lights and like i said i can do 100 mph and the car still goes but this only happens once the car is warmed up and unless i punch it. Anyone know what can cause this.

Btw i dropped it off at the dealer, they test drove it and told me theres nothing wrong with the car. I told them i'd come there to give them a test drive and show them what happens. Took the service guy and a tech on a test drive and once i reached 95 mph and punched it the engine revved and the tech says to me "yup your tranny is going" I said to him no shyt sherlock.

Im not a mechanic and it didnt take one to let me know my tranny is going. Im thinking right now its an issue that is only going to get worse.

When you first turn on the car... does the tranny have a whinning belt type noise?

 

I guess that you have no warranty?

First of all, change the fliud with a high quality Type F - just the cheap stuff at any auto parts store will work. Drain and fill it with the type F three times, driving a few miles inbetween each drain and fill - you will need 9 quarts. See if that fixes your issues. You should be able to tell a difference in each change, but the biggest difference after the first.

If it doesn't get better, then you are out of luck.

If it does, then spend some time/money and 1). change your transmission filter, 2). change your 3rd and 4th gear pressure switches and, 3). put some Redline Racing or Amsoil Racing fluid in there.

 

I Just posted a thread about a bad trasmission on 2006 TL with 40K miles. Trasmission is completely screwed up.

My wife drives the car w a baby so there is no speeding or abusing or aything like that ...

but i did notice the whinning noise when the car is first started.... what is this Belt noise? Did I do anything wrong? ... there were no Warning light or any codes being displayed.

 

So after getting my car checked out at the dealer the final conclusion is that I need a new transmission. I think I posted earlier that they are charging me $3900 for parts and labor. I called Acura corporate client services and explained my issue. I was on the phone with the rep for about 30 minutes. Two days later I get a callback from a supervisor saying that they will help me out and are now charging me $2800. Little bit of a discount. I've been really debating if I should do this or use this money in addition, for downpayment and trade in. Wat do you guys think, is it worth it? Should I just go ahead and fix it or trade it in? I've done some decent music work in it and it still looks pretty to me I'm just not sure if I want to put this money into it.

 

is your car paid off? if yes, do you want more car payments as opposed to a one time payment of $2800?
