Question Tranny problem or nothing at all???

Hmm, it would be hard (probably impossible) for me to recreate this problem (it's kinda random and I hate calling it a "problem") for the dealer but every once in a while my beautiful 04 SSM TL will seem to brake fairly hard (from the tranny) at right around 2nd-3rd gear. I'll apply the brake as I usually do (smooth and even... i.e. not jerky) but there's time when my tranny will feel like it's "catching" and I'll jerk forward (only slightly).

Now, from the outside you probably wouldn't see the car doing anything unusual and to be truthful a passenger probably wouldn't notice anything either... however, I drive my car all the time and can feel any differences when it comes to the handling. Again, it has only happened a handful of times and it's not very noticeable (i.e. no squeeling, grinding noises, etc.)... besides that... the TL is a great car and I've enjoyed driving it so far (31,000 plus mile).

Anyone else ever feel the slight tugging from the tranny when braking... or am I just being paranoid

Is it when you're going downhill? I frequently notice something similar when braking for a stop sign at the bottom of a hill on my daily commute.

If this happens while decellerating especially downhill then it is most likely the "grade logic" system kicking in. Perfectly normal, but it is a bit strange to experience.

It's kinda ambigious but it sounds like

1. Grade logic - gear shifts down one

2. Brake Assist - when you apply brake slightly under certain conditions, car actually applies brake harder than your input.

Seems like 1 and 2 working together.
