Thumbs down Tranmission

hey guys... my car recently in the freeway did not let me accelerate at all... for a second before all that happened it felt like i was driving stick shift. downshifted hard out of nowhere going 80 mph and then into neutral... i was on the carpool lane trying to acerbate but it just would not acerbate.. i just the transmission dip stick and its between the lines and no check engine or VSA light came up... reverse works on the car... also i was able to drive it for a few few when it cooled down but then when the engine got warmer it didn't let me.. whats the problem here? transmission sensors? can you guys let me know please i hate being without a car ( sorry for my typos in advance) thanks

Sounds just like what mine did! Tranny is done! Torque converter got hot that's why it moved a little when it cooled down. Start getting estimates as a replacement or rebuild is most Likely inevitable.

It's toast - pressure switches won't bring it back to life.

sound like the tranny is on the way out. try to drain/refill once to see if that helps. otherwise, prepare to get a new tranny

There was no pop sound or anything big ...it shifts into gear correctly and smooth like always but doesn't really engage at all ... It only advances foward when the car is cold and when it gets hot it just revs the engine when I press on the gas as if it was in neutral

while im sure you dont want to hear this. Start putting $ aside for a new transmission.

Your car is an 04-06 isn't it? Sucks man. Those trannies shit the bed with little indication at times. You won't get any dash lights either, I believe. There's nothing inside the transmission to indicate to the ecu that the transmission is failing

This makes me nervous about mine. Need to do the pressure switches and a fluid change asap.

It's a good idea. While there are many cases on AZ of the automatic transmissions failing, I'm not sure how prevalent of a problem this really is outside of our community. A friend's mom has an 04 auto TL that has yet to show any problems. I also question the maintenance regularity on that vehicle as well.

That's true it may never happen, but with my garbage luck it probably will, so I'm going to take the precaution.

your trans is slipping because your not getting fluid to the clutches.
Could very well be the Torque converter pump has failed. ( think its called a stator )
