Hey everyone, I just ordered some personalized plates so I was wanting to do a license plate tow hook relocation. I've never taken the cap off of the front bumper before, so to make sure everything lined up correctly I tried screwing in the oem tow hook before I attempted any DIY mounts. However when I tried screwing in the tow hook, it didn't line up with the bumper and I can't even screw it in at all. I don't know why this would happen, I've talked to other people who have done the tow hook license plate mod and they said they were able to screw theirs in no problem. Any one else out there have this similar issue!? Please help me out because I'm concerned that either my frame or my bumper is not straight.

 

Has the car been in an accident? New bumper? Aftermarket bumper? Check the VIn sticker on the front bumper..


we may or may not have opened up pandora's box here if you realize this car has some front end damage

 

Time to watch with a close eye if any other part of your bumper is misaligned (usually visible near the headlights). Obviously if it doesn't have the Acura logo in the middle then you know for sure it's been changed.

 

Thoiboi, thanks for the quick reply, where can I find the vin sticker on the bumper? Polo bunny it has the front Acura indented so it's definitely an Acura bumper. I'm starting to think this car has been in an accident. There's a lot of weird things about it

 

You may have to remove the bumper cover to get to the VIN.

At the same time, you may uncover that the bumper itself may be misaligned. Good luck and take pics!

In California, it's illegal to sell a car without disclosing previous accidents.

 

Thanks so much thoiboi, I'll let you know what I find. I'm really starting to think it was in some sort of accident because my 2005 TL came with 07-08 base taillights, and the previous owner was a very old man who I don't think would have modded it. He's the only previous owner... Kinda concerning!
