first off, 06 automatic! I got a p0741 code a couple days later after doing a drain and fill. Is this too much fluid? Sometimes I get a weird 2nd gear hard shift and other times when I am on the gas it isn't as pronounced. I tested my tcc solenoid and it ohm'd out correctly, I didn't check the filter, but have one on hand and I didn't check the other solenoids with the filters to see if it is clogged, it has been 40,000 miles since I got a new rebuilt transmission and new pressure switches but I refuse to go down that rabbit hole without checking if I made a bone head error like an over fill.
That IS technically overfilled however I ran my 2008 at that level for a few months last fall with no problems that I could feel. I did searches on here and found no 'terrible' consequences IIRC. I assume that is a HOT fluid level. The new pressure switches may be more sensitive to that level (??). I used a vacuum bleeder to remove excess fluid from the dipstick tube.

That is indeed hot! Thank you! It won't hurt to let some out and see what happens.

At least it is hot. Definitely drain some out or do another drain n fill (can't hurt). If you wanna drain some out just loosen the drain bolt until it almost comes out and it will drain slowly..... Judging by your photo you wanna drain at least a half litre/quart. I have done many of tyese and have gotten the p0741code. So far draining some fluid out has cured it. I believe i was running with overfilled atf fluid for a while before the code so I suggest you drain some.. If you wanna test... Drive up to 80km/hr or whatever that is in mph and set it in cruise or just give it enough gas to maintain.... This should engage the torque converter in 1 to 1 operation. This is when you need to feel for any abnormal behaviours..... Too much fluid in my car, an 08 base, now causes the p0741 code to come up. Otherwise it drives very nicely.

it won't hurt if it slightly over fill. Let the car cool down, park at a relative flat surface and check your fluid level again.
The ATF fluid is supposed to be checked when hot and it WILL hurt the transmision as the torque cinverter won't function as it should and shifts will be harsh. At least that is in my experience with both my 07 and 08 autos.
DO NOT OVERFILLL THE TRANSMISSION. CHECK WHEN HOT!

I drained some out, replaced my external oil filter. and 80 miles later, still no p0741 code. I passed California smog today as well. Thank you stevemk07. I appreciate your insight!
that's now new cars come. the trans is over filled. go to the dealer and look.
its fine.
did you not read my whole post right before your response as well as my outcome? It was overfilled...the reason I asked was to find out if that was causing my p0741 concern which it was....
let this be a reminder of being thorough on how you drain and fill your car. I saved myself from my second transmission rebuild. Now to see what the effect of having my car with my torque converter being stuck off after driving it a thousand miles is a different story.
