Is it too late!

My check engine light came on showing a code of p1717 on the nav. Screen is it too late to do flush and switches ? Car still drives just a little rough when selecting gears and a little rough iin shifting when slowing to almost a stop then accelerating again ? If I do flush and switches how do I reset check engine light ?

Do it & see, can't hurt anything.

It's a code for the transmission range switch. Basically, the trans does not know if you're in park, reverse, or drive. It has nothing to do with the fluid or 3rd and 4th gear pressure switches but those are always a very good idea to do regardless. I would find someone on here with a manual for the troubleshooting procedure. It's probably the switch itself but it can be an adjustment or wiring. Don't drive anymore than you have to, if it causes any sort of slippage, you can destroy a perfectly good trans in a few seconds.

Thanks man u seem to know your stuff about these trannys ! But I think im good I called the dealer and they told me the same thing u said I think what happened is when my wife drove it last it may not have been all the way in drive wich tripped the code , I was told to take a short drive to insure everything was ok as far as no slip or clunk or anything wich there is none , so I parked the car and came back out later to run an errand and. the check engine light wasnt on anymore !!!! Wich is good news but I think I will take the advice on changing the fluid . I do have another off topic question about my lowering springs I just got my tein s tecs 1.25" drop do I have to change my shocks with this small of a drop ?

That sounds exactly like something that would cause that code. Glad it was an easy "fix".

As for the shocks, they're not going to "blow out" at that drop. They might not provide enough damping for the spring rate but there won't be any big issues.
