TL won't start

Got into my car and everything seemed fine. Put the keys in and as soon as I start to turn it to crank, everything cuts off. Car is dead, cant unlock/lock doors and nothing is showing up on the screen at gauge cluster. Get out of car and can lock it with my key fob. So I get back in car and gauge cluster lights up again and try to start again. Everything cuts off again. Could it just be dead battery or something else?

Update:

Couple hours later, I start the car and it starts up like normal. On the ride home though, all of the electronics cut off for a second and came right back on. Motor didn't shut off, although all of my presets on the radio were reset. Any ideas what might be going on? Something going bad?

Could be many things, but a place to start is by getting the battery and alternator tested (I think for you folks down there Autozone does testing....)

Battery is only a few months old, but I'll stop by Autozone tonight if I have a chance and get both tested.

Checked out the car. The positive cable was loose on the battery terminal. Was tightened all the way but still loose. Had to buy a battery post shim to fill it out. Hopefully that will fix my issue. Will try to update post if it doesnt.

Unhappy Acura TL 2006 sometimes doesnt start! :(

Hi There! I would greatly appreciate any insight on this issue

Recently my 2006 Acura TL occasionally doesn't start. At first I thought its the battery connectors that were in fact dirty so I cleaned the connectors and it worked fine, well I thought so until the problem came back the next day. The battery is not weak because when it starts (about 70% of the time) it can start the car with radio and AC even seat heater left on (accidentally).

This is the sequence of how it happens.
1) I turn the switch to start and it clicks and suddenly the power to the entire car is 100% shut off all panels etc turn off and switch does nothing after that.
2) I remove the switch and open and close the door a couple of times then most of the time the light inside the car turns on and I know the power is back and try again and the car turns on easily (not like when a car turns on with weak battery, just healthy regular battery start)
3) Next day or sometimes after I go inside a store for 30 min and come out the car wouldnt start again. Same cycle 2 above fixes it.

When it eventually starts the GPS needs the security code to work so I know the battery had been completely shut off, however it remembers the seat memory and stations on the radio.

Any idea what is causing this and how much it will cost to fix?

When you cleaned the terminals did you clean both the cables and battery surfaces?

Also chesk your negative cable. One of the members here found his cable was corroded on the wire itself and after he replaced it it was fine.

Yeah, if you didn't remove the cables to clean inside and out and clean the battery terminals and then re-install and re-tighten, do it.

Have the battery tested.

Lots of threads on troubleshooting starting problems. Use search to help you.

Yes I removed (only + the - seemed ok) and cleaned both the connector and the battery post from the white powdery stuff.

Although the nut was tight all the way but the connector was still loose, so I removed the connector, pressed it with pliers and jammed it by about 1/8 of an inch so it wouldnt go back on the battery's post, then loosed the nut put it back on the battery post so I could tighten the nut and get a tight grip.

Alright, maybe my pliers compression technique was not good enough although it felt pretty tight afterwards, I will try the battery post shims as you suggested. Thanks for the PM as well!
