TL Type S , Humming sound?

I'm getting a constant humming/whirring sound when I drive?
Has anyone else encountered this? Is this normal?
I've read that tighting my intake helps, but I was wondering if anyone knows more about this "problem"?

at idle and under acceleration? or idle only? at a certain speed?

It sounds like its coming from the engine compartment, kind of the front in general, I'll take a closer look tomorrow morning. It isn't really loud but its definitely audible; like I said I'll come back with more details tomorrow

If it can't be heard when at standstill, check drivetrain, tires, etc.

I have the same thing, a humming sound with a slight osscilation at idle. I thought it needed a valve adjustment, had that done, still noisy. My thought is maybe the serpentine belt and the tensioner or (if your like me and haven't done it yet) the timing belt, TB tensioner, and water pump. Annoying sound though.

I posted a similar thread last night (with a video): https://acurazine.com/forums/3g-tl-problems-fixes-114/05-tl-5at-whining-noise-burning-smell-912892/

I had a humming sound a few months ago. Thought it was my front tires. Turned out to be a frozen rear brake caliper.

I had the same sound it was more louder when I was accelerating, I replaced the idler pulley and it stopped, the bearings on the pulley were bad. go get a mechanics stethoscope and fins the source of the noise.

Okay sorry for not updating , I thought the noise had gone away however;
the humming noise is not very noticeable and coming from the right side(sitting in the drivers seat,
left if looking at the front of the car) and it's coming from around the side of the engine.
Another thing I didn't notice until now is that my car creaks, like LOUD, I can't hear it in the cabin if my windows are up however everyone around me can hear it, I think it's coming from the front right wheel, does anyone know what is going on?

Okay I ordered a mechanics stethoscope and I recorded a video of the noise.
I had my windows down and drove down an alley since it's easier to hear when the noise bounces off the barriers.

What kind of humming? It could be your power steering pump you might be hearing. When air gets into the pump you can hear that noise. Usually louder on cold days.

I need your help guys with a similar problem

since no solution to this problem was offered I thought I could post my problem here.

Today I just finished replacing my motor side mount bracket (the one that’s goes from the engine and wears out usually). To do this I had to take out the side motor mount, remove the serpentine belt and tensioner pulley. After that I removed the two top TB covers and some bolts from the main cover and pulled out the side motor bracket. Since I didn’t remove the TB middle cover I had to pull hard and I don’t know if I damaged something on the way. After putting back everything together I noticed a humming noise right away while sitting in the car. It gets worse as you accelerate. To rule out other possibilities I took out the serpentine belt and run the car for a minute and the noise was still there coming from the TB side of the engine.

I need your help guys to determine what could I possibly damaged and what do I need to do to get it fixed.
thanks in advance.

TL Humming noise

My 2004 TL ( w/175,000 miles) recently developed a humming/whinning noise around the belt area. The sound is most pronounced from gear 1-3 and diminishes or less pronounced in higher gears. So I was afraid it might be the trans. Since I had the O-ring replaced 2-3 years back, I didnt think it was the power steering related. After examining the area, I noticed the PS pump was covered with grease and obviously there is a leak. To be sure, I took the car to a local Honda dealer, paid $135 for diagnostic and was told the noise came from faulty PS pump, maybe tensioner and/or the belt. Thankfully it was not the trans or other more expensive component but the estimate to repair it would cost over $1700. I figure someone has to help pay for those "Service Advisers", valet, cashier and courtesy drivers etc. Got another estimate from a local garage to replace all 3 items, brand new ( not re-manufacture) out the door for $800. I know it's not OEM parts but for a car at that age, $900 is a good amount toward down payment for the next Acura. Hope this helps other TL owners who are experiencing the same humming noise.
