Tl transmission problem...

Guys I think my transmission is going to die soon.

Let me give you a perspective of what happened tonight..
I'm at 80k miles. Automatic.
Driving home the car down shifted really hard when i let go of the gas. When i step on the gas, the RPM would go really high for each gear. When I come to a halt, and try to go again, the car wont go.

The funny thing is, when i turn off the car and turn it back on...it goes again. Afterawhile i thought it was normal again, but nope...it slipped again.

I switch it to manual to see if it lets me shift gear, and yes it did. But on the 4th gear, it was really rough. i checked my transmission fluid, i have enough fluid to the 2nd dot on the reader.

Has yall experience this problem right before you transmission went pop?

Bring your car to the dealer IMMEDIATELY and have it checked out.

The last thing you want to happen is having your car downshift to 2nd at 70mph and cause an accident.

Keep us updated, I am not in the same boat ... but sitting at 93,300 miles with hard shifts in the morning .. I'd like to hear how the dealer takes care of you.

It's a long shot getting goodwill coverage, but...

Be polite, explain your situation, and see what your service manager can do for you.

this still steams me up that Acura still hasn't resolved the tranny issues yet...

get in contact with Ethan and see if Bob is still at DmD... he will take care of you and will do his best to see what he can do to at least help you on the repair if you do need a tranny...

Check for codes.. No blinking Drive light??

When was the last time you changed your ATF? The valve body may have sludge packed in it.. in any case.. it doesn't sound good. Check for codes.. take it in.. get an analysis of the ATF..

Sounds like it's on its way out though.. If it's just a sticky valve you can run a detergent to free them up but it takes some drive time to be effective.. then do a refill. You can run a solvent but there's pros & cons to both methods.. Keep us updated. Hopefully it's not a mechanical failure.. also check you ATF level.

I dropped my car off to my friend shop today.
He will let me know whats going on. There was a P error code and he say it comes from the transmission.

I just hope i dont need a new transmission. till then!

How much to replace Tranny at Dealership?

Could you guys give me an estimate of what is the cost for tranny replace at the dealership?
A few days ago my car didnt shift right and it gave me a error code from the transmission. My local mechanic diagnose it and sya it will cost me 1900 (labor included) dollars.

I want to take my car to the dealership but affraid it will be much more than 1900..

Depends on what is wrong with the tranny. If it's shot and needs replcement, it's going to cost more than $1900.

Around $3.5k with a 3yr / 36k mile warranty.. In on Monday.. Out by Tuesday.. It's steep.. but not too many shops will cover 3yrs and the reman trannys are typically good quality.
