TL owners with a cracked dash & fix

I have read many stories about TL dashboards cracking here is mine: 2005 Acura TL bought used with 70k miles and no cracks @ 80k miles I had cracks everywhere - I took the car in and was quoted $1900+ for the repair. I called up Acura client relations and spoke with an individual who listened to me and gave me a case#. She told me to go to my local Acura dealership, give them my case number and explain that I want a service tech to look at the dash and have them speak with the District Service Manager for Acura, not the dealership. I mentioned that I had owned numerous Honda / Acura vehicles and I never had a dash crack. was told it would take a couple of weeks for the decision to be made how much if any that Acura would pay of the $1900 repair. When I followed up they said that my total cost of the repair would be $414.09 including tax and they would provide a loaner at no charge during the repair of 2-3 days. Ending to the story: fixed dash a great deal cheaper than the original quoted repair price!

My story was pretty much the same, but at first Acura didn't seem to intrested in helping. Ended up paying $323 and getting a loaner for (2) days.

However, I did hammer Acura on the survey I received a day or so later..........

That's good news, but why start a new thread? We already have an epic 17 page thread on cracked dashes and resulting fixes or denials. Why not post there?

You're probably one of those that complains that the search function sucks or when you do a search, there are too many threads to search through.

This is the very reason why this occurs, not to mention the rules (which apparently the newbies don't read anymore) say to search before you post. Hopefully no one else will add to this thread and it will die a silent death.

OP, you'd be better served by posting your experience in the epic thread.

Thats great news for being in FL, those dealers are never willing to give up a single buck. What dealer did you take it to?

I found a company that makes a vinyl dashboard. All you need is $200 and their supplied glue and the car is as new as no cracked dashboard. Additionally you do not need to pay $2k to replace and you do not have the ugly dash mat on your car. I have not bought the kit yet. As soon as I do, I will post pictures of the before and after and let all know the company
