The TL is consuming oil

Ok, for the last year (between 75,000 and 100,000) miles, my car has been consuming oil. How do i know? Well the obvious reason is that oil keeps disappearing and there are no oil leaks. I've looked carefully for gasket leaks and there are no spots in the driveway where I park. The car doesn't blow blue smoke or any smoke for that matter but there is a recurring ring of black smoot around the tail pipes (on the rear bumper). I told the story to the Victory Lane Quick oil change guy and he proceeded to pull off the air intake (I think that's what he pulled off) and ran his fingers on the inside to show me oil on his finger tips to (confirm) my suspicision (and his agreeance) the car was consuming oil. I don't understand how the car consuming oil would show up in the air intake so maybe I'm wrong about where he was checking. I just a read a post somewhere else that a bad PCV valve would cause the car to burn oil. I haven't even looked at the PCV valve and the car does have 103,000 so maybe this is the culprit.

Needless to say, I'm quite disappointed. This is my 3rd Honda (Civic with over 120,000 and an accord with 130,000) neither of which had consumed oil. I was hoping to keep this car for at least another 100,000 (I average about 25,000/yr highway miles) and am now wondering if I should be looking to dump it.

Thanks in advance for reading and commenting.

i read up how a pcv valve works, i understand now how you can conclude its consuming oil.

have not checked it but ordered a new one anyway and will be installing tomorrow - it was only $20.

what's WOT?

PCV valve is connected to intake and oil is sucked in there via vaccum....

WOT = Wide Open Throttle
