Angry Tighten Fuel Cap issue '08 TL

I keep getting the "Tighten Fuel Cap" alert on my Navigation....ive turned the the car off, removed the fuel cap and put itnback on nice and tight...still get the alert. Went to the dealer, bought a new fuel cap and still get the alert. Dealer says its not a leak. Help!

Are you sure you have an Acura? Acuras never have this problems.

Actually there is an issue with a "Tighten Fuel Cap" Message here is the link to the TSB.

https://acurazine.com/forums/showpos...5&postcount=11

and here is the link to all known issues with the 3rd gen TL

https://acurazine.com/forums/3g-tl-2004-2008-93/3g-tl-technical-service-bulletins-tsbs-3g-garage-j-016-a-613659/

Hope that helps! Ive had that issue once and the dealer replaced the fuel cap and that was it.

Had same problem in my 05. Did you switch to a cheaper brand of gasoline recently (i always use chevron, but used a no namer)? It took about 2 tanks of chevron gas and a good wipe down of the threads in the gas cap. Went away after 2 weeks, could be a coincidence.

This happens on both my 3rd Gen TL's.
ONLY when the car " idles " for a prolonged period of time.
After a day message goes away on its own.

I had this problem for over a year on my 07 Type-S. I replaced the purge solenoid and it fixed it. Cost about 80 from oem acura parts and 10 minutes of work.

I have an 07 TL-S. This has come up twice so far. I simply tightened the fuel cap and the message went away. So far it hasn't come back yet.

I had the same problem a few weeks ago, my mechanic friend who use to work for acura said to tighten the cap 3 clicks every time you pump gas..

I recently noticed that little flapping piece of metal missing when I take off my gas cap. Does any know what this little piece is called and/or have the same issue.? I'm thinking this can cause a slight fuel "evaporation".?.

Update~the 'Tighten Fuel Cap' message eventually went away after 3 weeks. Initially I was going to take it to the dealership but my friend, drives a 2009 TSX, told me it happens to her every now and then and usually clears itself. The day the message first appeared I was actually on my way to visit her. She lives in Riverside which is like an inferno during the summer. I wonder if the heat had something to do with it. Since I've had the car I've always used premium fuel at Costco and I'm fastidious about making sure the gas cap is on tight. The tire sensors usually tell me I need to check the air pressure whenever it's super hot or super cold as well.
