Hi all

New member. just bought a used, certified TL from the dealer. I didnt notice the following problem during my test drives, well..now i have the car and am noticing the following:

while slowing down, i hear a THUMP THUMP THUMP in rhythym with the speed of the tires...however, the sound is only noticeable when nearing a complete stop..i would say as the car is slowing from 10 to 0 MPH.

it seems to be coming from the front, but im not certain. there are new pads and rotors, and also new tires. the car is smooth and tight otherwise at all speeds. the steering wheel does not vibrate at all with the thumping.

it is not a grating noise, i also dont think its a wheel bearing..those things i am familiar with diagnosing by sound. this is new to me..any ideas?

 

tranny maybe ?

 

First, rotate the tires, front to back to see if any change.

 

OK, i replaced the rear rotors, and sprayed FREE on the parking brake linkages...a single test drive showed no more noise..good!

i thought it was coming from the front, but it turned out to be the rear.

if the noise comes back in the next couple of days, ill update this post...otherwise..seems to have fixed it!

 

What was the cost of replacing the rotors?
