Is there an advantage to getting an OEM battery?

06 MT.... Woke up this morning drove my kid to school and came back home. Went out 30 minutes later and car wouldn't start. Alot of clicking.....no action. Then like 10 minutes later it struggled but then it came on. Went to autozone and they told me my battery was no good. I called the dealership and they said the battery is $140 with lifetime warranty... Now I've searched and looked at the battery threads here and I also looked at some batteries at Autozone.

My question is, are there any advantages to getting it done at the dealer? Because to be honest I have NO idea how to install it so therefore I'd probably have to have the autozone guy do it for me and if he messes something there isn't a warranty on that(is it?) And also Ive read alot of posts where people are saying that certain features like Radios/Windows/Roofs aren't working after battery replacement. So am I better off at the dealer or using Autozone and fixing the other stuff that may happen like the windows on my own? thanks any advice is truly appreciated.

hit and miss with the OEM battery in terms of reliabilty. only advantage if there are issues that crop up after install, the dealer will take care of it. other advantages, if your car has been serviced with them regularly then they'll be even more incline to help you out now or in the future. the autozone guys i think will put it in for you for free. have your radio code available in any case. depends on your level of comfort in dealing with anything that comes up.

if you are car knowledgable...go autozone...and troubleshoot yourself, should something go wrong.

if you don't want to be bothered...or not into wrenching on your car yourself...go to the dealer for peace of mind, but be prepared to pay the piper.

What price / warranty did Autozone offer (presuming comparable amps/etc)?

There is no advantage at all. In 2009 my dealer tested the factory battery in my 07' TLS & said it was reading low so they changed it under warranty. Early this spring I was leaving my house at 3:30am to drive to rhode island for a 8:00 business meeting & "Click, Click, Click" $%^&*#@!!!!!! I had to scramble into my 98' Accord which had no GPS. The acura batteries are garbage, I plan on changing mine again soon, they reach 2 years old & thats it.

Acura batteries suck! Go with either Walmart's Energizer, Interstate, or Kirkland (Costco) all made by Johnson controls inc.

They checked the warranty on my battery and through prorating they gave it to me for $70 and the lifetime warranty so I'm not mad. Thanks for all the advice and suggestions.

The sticker on my Acura battery says 03/08,the only time i ever had a problem with my battery dying was when i left my key in the "ON" position when i was rolling my fenders. The reason it crapped out was because i have a system and i stupidly forgot & left it on;but the minute i jumped it, it cranked right up & hasnt given me a problem yet again. *knock on wood*

No advantage to Acura battery (550CCA). I got the Wally Max-North battery (800 CCA) made by Johnson control for $68 installed. Walmart and Autozone install for free. Warranty (3-years complete replacement-and remainder to 108 months is prorated) is good and any Walmart in north america (way more Walmarts than Acura dealers). They tell you to keep the receipt in your glove box.

No worries, we all have to start somewhere. Do it yourself - you'll save money and that feels good!
