Temperature adjustment not working?
I tried searching but there is either 1. no one else w/ this problem or 2. many different ways to put this problem in to a topic.
The temperature adjustment in my car is, IMO, not working correctly. I get cold air on the coldest setting all the way up to the 85 degree setting. If I want mild temperature air (78 degrees or so), I have to adjust the temperature all the way to 90 degrees, wait for the warm air, then adjust back down to a tolerable temperature. It seems that once it is set on cold, it sticks there until it is put at full hot.
Anybody else have this problem? What gives?
Thanks for any info.

So you're saying that the vehicles not blowing hot air? There may be a problem with the air mix motor or the water control valve. You can check to see if it is working by adjusting the air temp, like you've been doing and observe the water control valve. There is a cable conecting the valve to the inside of the vehicle. If its not working then there was some kind of malfunction. Also you might want to make sure that the radiator is full and or the resorvoir has enough coolant inside.

The car will blow hot air, but only when it has been turned up to the maximum level of warm (90 degrees). Then it can be adjusted back down for mild temperatures (like 77-78 degrees).
I will check that valve. The radiator and reservoir are all set.

Had that happen to me too, it doesn't always happen though. Only when the ambient temp is somewhat close to the selected temp ~75ish. On cold days it always blows warm, and hot days always cold. Just seems to have issues with those in between days.

Mine has done this exact thing for years. I automatically turn it up to the highest setting and then back off. I never looked into it that closely but I verified it was opening the water valve.

^ +1 water valve working fine.
So that means I'm probably stuck with this issue lol I figured as much.
It's more annoying than anything.. I suppose I can live with it.

Mine is doing this as well. today I measured 40deg air coming out of the center went when I had it set to 80, and outside was ~82 and the car had been shaded (not hot). If I run it up to Hi, then it will move over to heat, and then I can adjust it back down, and it will run correctly (60ish deg air and 79-80 measured in cabin). I have no idea where to start. It seems the blend door gets stuck, but once it's commanded to flip the whole way around, it goes ahead and works. Until the next time.
also, I replaced my HCV a year ago, and it's fine.

mine does this as well, except on the passenger side only. I can tell a big difference in temp between the right side vent and left side vents. I was thinking about swapping around the temp sensors and see if it changes. I asked a service writer at my local dealer and he seemed to think it was the blend door, but IMO if it were the blend door it would still blow cold all the way at the "hi" setting.

For the RDX, this sort of behavior is a known problem, a sticking driver side blend door linkage, and a TSB was issued, and I wrote a DIY for lubing the linkage.
Probably the TL also has plastic linkage, where the factory lube dries, and requires replinishment - and like the RDX probably has a similar setup on both the driver and passenger sides (multiple doors, linkage, motors, etc.). Heat and moisture cause the lube to dry. Special plastic/ metal lube is used by Honda. If interested, look here for a description of the problem, diagnosis procedure, and the special lube to use:
