Started my car up in the morning, and heard a pretty loud tapping sound coming from the rear of my 2008 TL. Sounded like it was coming from just behind and under the rear seat. Put my head up to the car right by the rear wheel and could hear it best. Took a short trip, got out of the car, and tapping noise is still there. Turn car off, come back out about 40 mins later, turn car on, and tapping sound is gone. Today, I turn car on in the morning, no tapping sound. Short trip to store, come back out, turn car on, and tapping sound is back. Does anyone know what this could be? Thanks in advance everyone.

 

You may want to wiggle the exhaust next time it does it to see if it changes the sound or makes it go away.

 

I dont think its coming from the exhaust. I notice it does this every other time I turn the car on. It sounds like its coming from directly under the back seats, or just behind and under it.

 

I had the same sound on my 99 Accord V6 shortly before I had to replace the gas recirculation canister which is located just under a rear seat. The cost was $300 at Planet Honda in New Brunswick. Should be very similar system on our TLs.

 

Dealer is telling me they dont hear anything. This is such BS as its soooo noticeable. What should I do guys?

Picked up my 08 TL from the dealer. They claimed they couldnt hear anything. I didnt hear it when I turned her on, but heard it when I got home.... Not only is the tapping still there, now my rpms are running WAY TOO HIGH..... WTF!!!!!! Does anyone know why this is? I just bought this car at the end of Novemeber, pre certified, and I'm running into these minor issues that I should not be running into.....
