Taillight issues

Hi all, I'm just now noticing that my white taillights don't always illuminate when I step on the brake. I'm not sure which ones I've got because my wife bought them as a x-mas gift through ebay back in Dec 2009. The center window brake light follows the same issue as the taillights, when I step on the brake. How do I go about diagnosing where/what the problem is? I don't notice any issues with any other system or lights.

I recently installed a TowReady 118489 trailer wiring kit and thought it was that, but after uninstalling it I still have the same issues.

Any help is greatly appreciated as I'm moving to SoCal from SoFL in 2 weeks and need the lights to work all the time!

i had the exact problem last year, after searching, it was the switch behind the brake pedal that needed to be replaced.

replaced mine in like 5 minutes, its a matter of turning the switch counter clockwise and pull it out, unplug the connector and then reinstall.

Well, thank you wilzrsx - that did the trick! Taillights are back to being blinding and no dimming from the turn signals!
