Tail Light Removal?? HELP

I'm trying to remove the tail lights from my 05 TL to put in the Type S tail lights, but I can't get the original tail lights off. I unscrewed the 4 nuts but still nothing. Please help. Do I have to remove the entire bumper to take off the tails??

You do not HAVE to remove the entire rear bumper, but it would make the job easier. I did one side at a time, separating the bumper from the car just enough to get the job done.

There is a video in the Garage section that really helped me. It's only a 5 minute video and I'd bet it'll save you a lot of heartache

there is one bolt at the bottom of the light. you need to take off the rear bumper to remove it. I just took off one side of the bumper when I changed my light.

I just ripped it out because it wasn't going to use anyway. Put the Type S on in it fit perfectly.

I leave the bumper clips on the bottom so the bumper is still "on" the car. It makes it easier to put back on. Its easier to take the bracket off the car with tail lights and swap and install back since the tail lights rests in the bracket. You will see what I mean when you tackle the project.

Do 1 side at a time. Jack up & remove that wheel. Remove the splash guard & the little bracket that it screws to (5 screws total I think). Just below the trunk rubber seal on the very back of car remove the little plastic cover & the bolt under it(10 mm socket). Pull around & down on the bumper cover to get to the little bracket/support just under the tailite, remove 2 bolts, lite comes right out.
