Strange Scratching Noise -- new rear brakes?
To make a long story short...
I highly believe my rear-brakes are messed.
It seems as though something happened and now my rear-driver's-brake are "eating the rotor."
Anyone know about how far/long I can drive before I get this issue resolved?
I ask because I need to drive my car around.. yet in Montreal garages are not opened on the weekends.
Also---I have a buddy in another city [roughly 9 hours away] whom can get me free labour+reduced prices on autoparts.
Which, in a way, is inconvenient but I may need to drive down there anyway.
And full story underneath for those wondering exactly what happened.
Full story:
So last night I was driving around... and got randomly pulled over by an officer.
Everything was fine and he let me go... But as I drove down the street with my music off.. I noticed a strange scratching noise coming from the rear of the car. So I got out and visually inspected the car at 2am on the side of the road. Everything seemed fine. So I drove... and sure enough the noise came back.
I was not aware of the noise earlier in the day... and was fully aware last night since it was a lot more quiet.
The strange scratching noise [sounds like you are dragging along a bicycle from under the car or something] can be heard under light throttle, while decelerating and while coming to a stop.
At that point I assumed it were my rear brakes...
So this afternoon I went to check on the TL. Everything seemed fine--except for one rotor/brake/wheel.
My driver's rear wheel is covered in some sort of bronze looking dirt [brake dust?] It's so bad that some of it is even on my tire.
From what it seems... I don't have any life in the brake pads or any brake pads even left on the rear-driver-brake. So I compared it to the driver's-rear-brake. It is noticeably different... and when feeling the rotor the passenger's is smooth while the driver's side feels as if though it is being engraved.

What I am thinking of doing at the moment is...
Getting regular rotors [as I'm low-ish cash]...
Then once my finances get back on track I'd switch to Rotora drilled/slotted all around. [I have Brembos up front]
