Clutch noise, bearing noise....?

04 TL 6spd, when the car is in gear and accelerating a groaning noise can be heard but goes away when shifting gears and in neutral....clutch still grabs hard and no loss in power and gets louder as engine speed increases. Dealer thought could be throw out bearing and wants nearly 3000 to fix as they would also replace the clutch while transmission is out....wondering if anyone has had a similar problem and what a possible cause/fix would be? Any advise or help would be greatly appreciated

Find a good Honda/Acura only shop, the dealer is always twice what you should pay and they treat your car poorly. Interms of the groaning it does sound like a throw out, depending on how many miles you have on the car you may not need a clutch.

The car has 64k on it. I have had the car since 18k. The dealer said the throwout bearing was part of the clutch assembly, which I have no idea if it is. In my area there is only one Acura dealer close by. I am going to check with the local Honda dealers, see if they are any better. I may just wait until the noise gets to loud to deal with or till it breaks. Any idea what happens when the bearing finally gives up? Thanks!
