Strange Brake Problems

I have brake problems. The issue is than neither I nor anyone else I've gotten to look at the car can figure out what it is. I'm fairly certain that it's entirely in the front end. The calipers, brake hoses, rotors, and pads were all replaced and bled over a year ago. Front calipers have seized up a few times since, and those were replaced.

Front brake pads have about 9mm left. It smells like burning brake pads... sometimes. The wheels are abnormally black with brake dust... but the wheels move freely when tested. The front end makes loud metallic clicking noises like something's overheating when stopped... but the wheels aren't unusually hot. Occasional slight burning coolant smell... probably related to said overheating. Brake pedal sinks... sometimes. Car jerks like it's braking unevenly... sometimes. Fuel mileage reading drops to single digits... sometimes.

Likely it's an uncommon cause, considering how it's completely baffled everyone. ABS? Master cylinder? Suspension component? Brakes seem to be dragging for some reason or another.
Thanks in advance.

After screwing around with the car for a few hours, I think I've uncovered at least part of the problem. I think the master is on it's way out; the brake pedal sinks to the floor and stopping distance is longer than normal. The poor mileage might be caused by a clogged catalytic converter, but I'm not sure if it could be overheating the braking system. The heat coming from the underbody is pretty significant, and it's definitely coming from the exhaust system. The ABS might also be somehow involved in all of this; the car threw ABS fault codes a couple times after hard braking.

Would a couple liters of brake fluid be enough to do it, or would I need more just in case?

too many problems / symptoms to get any relevant help here. yes you can replace a master cylinder, but no guarantee it will cure everything you mentioned. It sounds unsafe to operate as is.

Do you have the Brembo brakes? My brembos just starting doing this strange thing when I press on the brakes at a stop. They like click the more I push in the pedal at a stop. I can feel it in the brake pedal and hear it outside. Each side clicks a few times as I press the pedal down furthers brakes still work fine though.

Well, paint me green and call me baffled, too.
Wait, who did the brake job(s)?
