Steering pump (belt) noise
This might help save some time and money ...
My TL 2000 had its timing belt changed by Acura. The water pump, serpentine belt and power steering belt were replaced at the same time.
The power steering pump started making noises ten minutes AFTER each time that the car was started - especially on turns at low speeds. (NO noise on start up - hot or cold)
First, a steering fluid flush (with Bardhal additive thrown in) was tried - no major improvement.
Then, the pump bearing was replaced - no change in noise levels.
Moving on, a replacement PS pump was put in - no change in noise levels.
Finally, based on a posting on another automotive web-site, I sprayed the new power steering belt with a bunch of brake cleaner spray (very carefully), while the engine was running.
Noise gone!!!
(Apparently, if there is oil on the belt or rubber residue on the pulleys - this helps.)
