Starting Issues

Hi,

I have a 2008 Acura TL with an after market remote start on it. I have had the car since 2012, second owner. The remote start was placed on the car that same year and I have had no issues until recently. Not every time does this happen but when I go to manually start the car, it turns over and over and over before starting. And then when it starts it acts as if I have a slightly dead battery and is taking all the juices from everywhere to start the car. If I was to shut the car off and try to start it again right after, the car will start up. The only time the car will repeat this problem is if the car has sat for a few hours.
If I start the car with the after market remote start, the car starts right up and I do not have these issues above.
Has anyone has these issues?

Sounds like an issue with the aftermarket system's immobilizer bypass function. The Immobilizer prevents the car from starting if the right key with chip is not in the ignition, it does this by turning off the fuel system so it'll try to crank but not start. Aftermarket alarms have a bypass for this so you can start the car remotely. There's probably an issue with it reading the bypass and your key when you manually start.

Also check your battery terminals for corrosion and get your battery tested. A bad cell in a battery could cause a bunch of issues.

With the car off, if you turn the key to the on position, wait for the green key light to go out (you can hear the fuel pump priming), then turn the key, does it start right up? That's what I've had to start doing. If I don't, it has to crank a whole bunch before starting- if it's sat for a while. I think the fuel pressure is bleeding down and from what I gather, the pressure regulator/check valve is part of the fuel pump assembly in the tank. Other than that, it runs just fine once it's started. Sounds like you may be experiencing something similar.
