Starter? Alterator?
Starter? Alterator?
Hi guys, i searched the forum and did not really get an answer for the fix. so sorry if i post this incorrectly and thanks for helping out.
Mine is a 05 auto with navi. so far it's been good to me. however, it hesitated a little bit when i turned the key this morning (it was not close at all) and eventually my car started. Normally it would crank up immediately and it just felt very weak this morning. i am quite sure it's not the battery because i changed the battery and replaced the homelink control unit last year. so i am thinking is it the starter or alternator. what's the fix for this and how much?
Thanks

first check for parisitic current draw. There's always that possibility that your new bluetooth hands free link module took a shit again. Actually a easy way to tell is to see if it says "Booting up" when you go to the hands free link on your MID display.
than you can always take a volt meter and check your battery voltage without the car on. 12.75v is a full charge. if it's below 12.5v than the battery isn't holding charge like it should.
than use the volt meter to check the battery while the car is running. if it's reading 13.5v+ than your alternator is doing its job.
to test your starter. attach the test leads to both battery terminal and start the car. as you start the car the voltage should jump to 14v or more. I don't know the exact numbers

Likely the starter. My Accord had the same hiccup, and about 3 months later it was towed to the dealer and I got slapped with an $800 bill to replace the starter (got screwed).
^aftermarket is fine, here's the link:

if you don't want to get ripped off, just take it to a local mechanic.
