Squealing and Screeching

06 TL with Brembo Brake 95,000 miles - daily driver.

My car has been making a squealing noise that appears to be coming from the front passenger wheel or possibly axle. It happens every morning, everyday leaving work, and seems to happen when the car sits longer than 3 hours with the same symptoms. This started about 3 days ago and has continued:

-I hear a little squeal/creak when slowly pulling out or slowly rolling 0-5mph and a more prominent squealing/screech when braking as well.
-All noises stop after driving for 5minutes

My brakes feel solid and have no play in the pedal and turning is perfectly fine - no clunks. I was thinking it could be a coating of rust that builds up on the rotor? But i still hear the noise lightly squeal when rolling or turning sharply during that first 5minutes of driving. I got my tires rotated about 2 weeks ago. After the rotation i feel vibration in the front drivers wheel when going about 65+ mph. I assumed it needs to be balanced or my car is out of alignment. Im thinking that this might be related to the problem with the squeal, or may just be a coincidence?

Thanks for your help.

Have you checked the brake pads?

Vibration is caused by out of balance wheels, easy fix.

The squeal can be caused for a few reasons. The first is the type of brake pads you are using. Cold pads that are semi-metallic love to make noise. Many members have had great sucess with the CMAX GOLD brake pads. They have a lifetime warranty so you can take the worn ones in and get new ones for free. Plus they are super quiet.

You can try a few things to help elminate the squeal other than replacing the pads first.

You can apply some brake grease behind the pads between the shim and also from the shim to the caliper where it makes contact. The brake grease is designed for this purpose. Do not get it on the pad/rotor contact area!!!

Found out last night that its actually coming from the PASSENGER REAR WHEEL. There is a groove in the rotor that goes around in a perfect circle. I took it to a 2 shops today.

The first shop said the brake caliper is seized up and will need:
1 rear caliper
1 Brake Hose
2 sets of brake pads (left and right sides)
1 rotor
Totaling: $540

The second shop said the right rear pad is at 1/32nd and needs replacing along with the rotor.
-Set of rear rotors
-Set of Brake pads
Totaling: $330

Now will a low brake pad create a deep groove? My finger nail catches onto the groove

Does your pass rear rim feel hot/warm after a drive? Def need pads and rotor.... I've had luck cleaning and lubing slide areas before needing to change caliper. Shop 1's quote isn't too bad.... if you just clean caliper up you may still have the issue and just burn thru the new pads.

A possibility is rebuilding the caliper, too.

As for deep groove, you say your nail catches on the groove. That's not terribly deep, pictures would help wonder. It happens sometimes that road debris/rocks can catch in between the pad & caliper and the rotor and create issues like that.

As F(x) pointed out, make sure the caliper is the issue.
