Noise from airbag cover

Noise from airbag cover
So I have been hearing this vibration noise coming from the steering column. I finally found it. It is coming from the air bag cover in the steering wheel. Has anyone had this problem? I haven't taken anything apart yet. I'm a little afraid that doing so may set off the air bag. Any thoughts?

Does the noise sound like a faint ticking from a Geiger counter, and even perhaps changes/stops when you are not allowing weight of your arms to pull downward on the steering wheel? I have some kind of sound like that, haven't nailed the cause down yet. And yes, taking apart the cover should probably be left to the professionals.

You can pull the airbag out pretty easily. In some other Acuras, the cover on the airbag is a part of the airbag (it cannot be removed). So if something is loose in there you might just want to replace it. Especially if that loose object could become a projectile in a car crash.
