Squealing belt

Recently (about three months ago), I replaced the serpentine belt for squealing on startup. It looked chewed up and it went on without a hitch.

Now, it's doing it again, and I have to believe that there is something causing this to happen.

There seems to be a noise coming from what I believe is the tensioner.

Has anyone encountered this? If it is the tensioner, is there an DIY?

Yes.....its one of three things....your idler pully....tensioner pully...or tensioner itself. You can buy all three together from your Acura dealer for under $100 if I recall...its a preassembled unit. That or figure out which pully is bad and just replace that one pully....thats even cheaper at $20-$30 per pully as I recall.

Note...search is your friend on this site....

Haven't replaced anything of the pully's or tensioner.

Is that fairly easy or a bit involved to replace?

I guess what I'm asking is if it's simply a bolt that I can remove with a breaker bar or do I need some impact tools?

The type of belt makes a difference to. I've had good luck with goodyear gatorbacks, they seem to strech out less than some other belts, over time.

basic tools and a good eye is needed
Get a new belt- dealer or Gates brand is well respected
get everything that goes with it for pulley or tensioner
High revving does a number on those parts- my AC belt tensioner started making noise at 45k miles and finally went at 80 (gen2 TL)
