Squeaky Belt

First off I want to say that I tried searching for a solution to this problem beforehand but the search sucks so I started this thread. So, today I'm driving home from work and my car begins to squeak under the hood and the squeak gets louder the more I push on the gas. I'm assuming its the serpentine belt(?) or something like that. Can someone confirm this and possibly give me a price on what it will cost to fix this issue, thanks for your help!

It could also be a bearing going bad on idler pulley or something like that. It is kind of hard to determine by the vague description.

Well...hmmm...I really can't explain it any better. I'm familiar with the sound a belt makes when its going bad and it is making a similar sound, squeak gets louder the more I push on the gas and when I let up on the gas the squeak slowly goes away. I guess I'll just have to make an appointment with my local dealership to figure it out. Thanks.

gates sucks, personally. I had one for 1k mi. before it started squealing bloody murder. then I chucked it. Goodyear Gatorback for the win. they're pretty much in every autozone or kragen, etc. I'm sure they make the right size for the TL, but I'm supercharged so I never used a stock size replacement.

i think they're like 25 bucks? I forget. i think 50 is too much

replacing it is cake. they make a tensioner pulley rod just for replacing serpentines. makes it a lot easier. probably be cheaper buying it than having it done by a mech...plus you get to add a new tool to your collection!!! but you can also make due with a long handled ratchet. I've replaced/swapped belts on my TL a bunch of times.

Does the TL only use one belt to drive the motor, power steering, A/C, etc. or are there individual belts for each of these components? The reason why I'm asking is that I think the squeaking may be a caused by the A/C because I had my car parked while running the A/C and you could hear a faint squeaking sound. Also, when I checked it with the A/C turned off the squeak got even quieter. I know a real good honda mechanic that I'm going to take it too, probably will be a lot cheaper than going to a stealership. Thanks for the info!

^ just one belt. when the a\c clutch kicks on, it puts a bigger load on the crank and causes the tension to shake, causing the squeak to change pitch or get louder/quieter. Still a chance it could be a bearing, but chances are...it's the belt. I would start there since it's a snap to change it out.
