Thumbs down So this has been pissing me off.. Hail damage

I bought my car last summer in a private sale. I was actually going into it blind, because the car was about an hour away south of Boston and I live in NH. My dad works in Boston so he checked it out and test drove for me said it ran beautifully etc etc.. the day I picked it up I noticed it was COVERED in hail damage. Not something the average person would really notice.. I've had people tell me they never saw it until I pointed it out..but I know its there and it gives me that feeling in my stomach like my car is some cheap used whore off the street and I hate it.

Long story short, took it to a body shop for an est. $3-4k. Can't use insurance bc I bought it like this. Any suggestions at all????

haha.. I've considered that but unfortunately we don't get much hail.. if any in New England, and if we do it isn't big enough to damage a car.

Can you post pics? How noticeable is it, since an "average" person wouldn't notice it?

Try a Paintless Dent Repair in your area and see what they can do.

I agree with paintless dent repair...if you find a good one they can do magic.

X2

I was caught in a hailstorm last year when traveling through Tenn.

There is nothing more sickening than listening to hail beating your TL-S, while you can do nothing about it No bridges or overpasses in sight!

PDR shop did a fantastic job of removing every dent, or replacing panels where needed.

Don't go to a body shop....they will only sub it out to a PDR shop, and put a few bucks in their pocket

Insurance covered it to the tune of about $2500.

The sound bite of a hailstorm on the "weather channel" is accurate, only crank it up noise wise

did it hail after dad saw the car???

I once saw a group of hondas all tricked out- camping together,, when hailstorm sprung up
They grabbed the air mattresses from the tents and covered the cars with the inflated units~
explaining- last storm cost me 5 grand to get the bodywork fixed!!

So the seller sold the car with hail damage and didn't tell you? What a fuck. They sold you something that was worth less than FMV (due to damage) and they received an amount that was comparable to a car without this damage? Once again, I'm shocked how someone can just outright screw another person. We're talking about thousands of dollars here. What's worse is that they could have had their insurance company fix it.

I'm a horrible car salesman. I divulge too much information when I sell a used car. I just think it's fair. What is so hard about being fair?

I will try, but I only have the camera on my blackberry so I'm not sure how good they will come out.

No, I'm sure it was there when he saw it-- he just didn't examine every inch of it like I would have. My own fault for having him look instead of me I suppose..

positive. Took your advice and I went to a PDR place yesterday and he's going to get back to me with a quote.. still yet to take pics of all this. He said it is minor but there is a large quantity of them, hopefully it won't be too much $

It's summer time, I suggest in the mean time.. investing in some dry ice.. wait for the body to get real hot and do your own poor man's pdr.

not the best pic, the camera doesnt even pick up the dents.. so maybe they are small enough and I'm just being OCD.. but they still bother me. This is just one of probably 100+ on the car

I tried the hairdryer and liquid CO2 but that didn't do anything, I guess that's only for bigger dents?
