Small "clicking" noise when coming to a stop, and taking off
2005 TL automatic
70k miles
When coming to stop, there is a small click noise that happens and it sounds like it's coming from the center console under the shift knob if that's what u call it on an auto.. It happens literally every time I come to a stop and I reach zero mph.. Then as I start to move it clicks again..it's not loud at all, with music on you cannot hear it! I don't feel anything when it happens just a noise. Anyone run across this?? Is it normal? This is the first automatic I've ever owned
My warranty ends in 2500 miles, so I'm trying to figure everything out before I'm sol

Also, I don't think it did it when I bought it a month and a half ago.. I feel that with even how low the noise is, I def would have noticed it...
One other thing, maybe it should be another thread but when it automatically shifts from what I'm guessing is 4th to 3rd, at about 38mph the car def slows down more than it should.. Passengers prob couldn't feel it but I do..

Update.. I figured out that it's when I apply pressure the brake.. It even does it when the car isn't turned on the full way. When it's in park, and a pump the brakes ten times it clicks ten times under the "shifter".. I can feel it if I put my hand on the carbon fiber surrounding the shifter..when it clicks I can feel it.. What's under there that could be doing it??

mine does that too, completely normal. when it clicks when your are in park then it is because of the solenoid allowing you to shift out of park. when it clicks when you go to like 10mph, then i THINK its to signal the car to lock the doors, cuz thats what happens on my car.

It can't be right. I gotta have someone look at it.. I'll let u know..pressing and releasing the brake shouldn't make an annoying noise under the shifter. And the fact that it does it when the car isn't even completely turned over makes me think it's electric
I'll try to post a video of it tomorrow

Sounds like the transmission shift interlock ... I believe it keeps you from shifting into reverse while the car is moving, thus it disengages when you come to a stop and re-engages when moving again. I never noticed it really until it was mentioned here. Someone wrote up a detailed thread on what they did to eradicate the sound, but said that it was a PIA. I had mine at the dealer for some TSB work and asked them to take a look (my '08 is still under warranty). They greased it some, I can still hear it, but the "click" sound is not as sharp or intrusive.

Ahh, I get it lol.. But I don't understand why it does it in park when I pump the brakes.. The car doesn't even have to be on and it does it. The key needs to be in the second position, it doesn't do it with the key out or in The first position
