Rust Dust

Hello,

I just got some new wheels and noticed that after every time I drive there is rust dust on it. I just replaced my rotors and pads so I don't think it is that. If anyone has an idea please let me know.

Best Regards,

Norair

If you are using OEM pads they tend to dust a lot.

Yeah I don't know what rust dust is, but any buildup of dust in your wheels is brake dust. Base TL brakes don't dust a lot but the Type S Brembo pads dust like crazy.

They're after market but same as OEM for the rotors but pads are carbon. The dust isn't the issue it's that the dust is rust dust, which could stain the wheel.

Coat your wheels with a sealant.

It's the pads. Trust me.

Brake dust is brake dust. It appears on your wheels either as tan/rust colored or black colored dust, depending on pad composition. Metallic pads tend to lean more toward black dust, where as ceramics often dust a lighter tan or rust shade. Really not much you can do, other than put a coat of wax on your wheels. It's not going to harm them.
