RPM gets low (causing slight vibration) when put in "D"

I get a slight vibration (caused from the RPM dipping below 1000) when I put the transmission in "D" after the car was turned off for I'll say within an hour ago. When I do it in the morning, it doesn't happen at all. What can be causing this? Is this normal? Is really noticeable if I stop for gas and turn off the engine. When I turned the engine back on and put in the "D", I get the slight vibration (the RPM will dip below 1 for a brief moment). BTW I have an 06 Auto TL

Ive noticed this in my 04 as well, normally it only happens when i turn on the car after forgetting to turn off the A/C from the previous drive. Once the A/C "charges" up its fine though.

usually most cars idle at 750ish RPMs in drive or park, I know what you are talking about thou. When its in drive, the RPMS are around 800ish and there is a slight vibration (and the engine sounds a weee bit rought too) you feel in the steering wheel, but pop it into nuetral, and the engine sounds smoother and RPMs jump up a wee bit. It happens on most cars. Ive noticed this behavior occurring in our TL, Camry and Altima...I dont think its something to worry about. (need Atrain or CAhobbs to help out with a technical explanation here...but heres my shot at it...When in drive, the engine is put under a loading condition, so the RPMs drop and the vibration we feel is the engine under load)

The engine is just reciving a load by putting it in drive. It doesn't do it in the morning because its running at high idle to warm up.

My 07 TL also has it. Mine is also rough at around 1000 RPM (even at idle when I press the gas paddle to bring up the RPM at that range). I checked out couple of other cars at the dealership and all of them do that. The head mechanic thinks that the engine of the TL is unbalanced between 800-1000 RPM range.
