Exclamation Rough idle

Hey guys, im new to the forum and just recently inherited a 2004 acura tl non S i have a couple of issues but most ive already found by searching the forum, however i have a rough idle issue. its only on a cold start for the first 1-2 minutes if not a little bit more then it dissipates and wont return even after multiple start ups. it will only do that when its cold or has been sitting most of the day at work. what could it be ?

Rough idle is normal on cold start.

When we say normal we mean that the idle will be high and it will have a slight shake/miss to it while it warms up. If I recall from earlier threads about this, it is related to the emissions and getting the cats up to temp quickly. When my wife started driving my car more, she thought something was wrong as well.

It's also normal for it to turn over longer than usual before firing every once in a while. This is also an emissions thing and is perfectly normal.

Normal as long as it's not a epic vibration or shaking. In which case, you might have read our cars have motor mount issues. Don't forget, it is/was a luxury sedan when new. So, "rough" idle is okay, within reason. But, just make sure it's not excessive.

Just picked up an 06 6MT and experienced exactly the same thing. Glad to know it's normal and nothing to worry about

you can always check your EGR as sometimes it gets stuck/clogged and will cause a rough idle. The rough idle on cold start is pretty subtle so if it is more pronounced I would check EGR.
