Rotating noise from right side of engine

My input for the good of the cause:
I took my 07 TL-S to the dealer last week to ask about a noise coming from the right front of the car - a rotating noise that I could not hear from inside the car but if I had the passenger window down I could hear it. The mechanic verified the noise and the service writer said that they had to order a shim kit. I took the car in today to have the kit installed and asked about belt replacement. When I picked it up they said that they installed service bulletin 08-031. Included was "Replaced timing belt, water pump, drive pulley, and installed tapered shim kit."
If you hear this noise get it looked at!

i actually has TSB 08-031 performed last week, however, my noise continues. although, mine is related to the crankshaft pulley (i think). glad YOUR issue is fixed.

sounds like a problem they had back with the 03s and misalignment of the crank pulley causing timing belt wear
Definetly stay on this until fixed for sure- or a broken timing belt will destroy the top of the engine

yea, i had the 'skim kit' installed and it silenced the timing belt noise. the crankshaft pulley, im hoping it will silence this noise when i upgrade to the lighter pulley and the newer belt...

Has anyone heard these type of noises on the 08 TL's (non-S-type)?

Noise is most pronounced at hot idle

The bulletin says it covers up to 2007 but the dealer said my 2008 did the same thing as the 2007s. The noise is now gone.

If there was a recall issued, the repairs are free. If no recall was issued, there may be a special warranty written into the TSB by the manufacturer.

Got mine repaired last week, all under warranty of course. The noise has gone away, hopefully for good. So if you hear a weird noise from the front passenger side wheel well then you should get this fixed as per the Service Bulletin 08-031. Wish the rest of you luck.
