Roof channel/molding/weatherstrip/ corrosion. Not sure of exact name

I just bought a used 04 TL and the rubber channel on either side of the roof (not sure of name) has a lot of corrosion to the point that I was willing to pay the $60 a piece to replace them.

I have two problems I would appreciate help with:

a) what are they actually called
b) how do I remove old and reinstall new

Thank you. I have searched but cannot find anything I'm looking for. I can't be the only one with this issue, am I?

can you take a photo of the corosion? It might not be the strip, but little metal particles from the car being transported to the dealer (rail dust from the trains) that are rusting.

maybe a quick polish with scratch-x might help.

Unfortunately not. It was my stepfather's before me so I know the history of the car and it was perfect when he bought it. It's just an eyesore but definitely the rubber/plastic has corroded. There are spots all over and back to black and scratch x won't do anything. My mom had the same issue with her 99 GSR (rip...got stolen and stripped to the BONE!). It makes the car look old. In this case, paying the $130 for new ones is the only solution, but the guys at the acura dealership were less than helpful when it came to install instructions.

yeah...if it's just faded, you can probably get away with that. Before that though try this stuff called "back to black"...red bottle...made by "mother's". It is specifically to get rid of that white faded look. I wish that was the issue for me...it's more like leprocy for me.
