Ride gets jumpy when cruising (07 Acura TL Type S)

Hello all,

Was wondering if you guys can give me an idea of what's going on with my car before I bring it to the shop.

I've noticed that when I accelerate up to 40 mph the car is absolutely fine, but it's when I'm driving consistently at 40 mph that I start to feel the car get jumpy, as in I'm driving on a straight flat road but it feels like the car is still bouncing a bit.

Haven't noticed this happening at any speeds under 40ish mph, but also haven't really tested this out much on higher speeds either.

Also, I should probably mention I have around 98k miles on her right now.

Thanks!

compliance bushings, wheel alignment, bad shock, bent rim.

Is this occurring with one wheel? If so, try swapping around the wheels.

What do you mean by "jumpy"? I know for certain I have a bent rim and it causes a vibration that becomes more noticeable around 40mph. Also my shocks probably need replaced soon.

It's hard to describe, it feels like the car bounces even though the road is flat and smooth. The more I think of it the more obvious to me that it's a bent rim.

Thank you both, it must be a bent rim. Last time I was in the dealership my guy let me know they couldn't rotate my tires perfectly because one of the rims was going to have to be replaced.

I was just worried it might be something more serious so I wanted to ask first.

Thanks guys!

Yeah, it sounds like a bent rim. I have one bent as well and I think I know what you're talking about. It's not bad but annoying enough to make you go crazy.

I'm afraid to order a new one since a lot of people had issues where color was darker on the new wheels or lighter if I remember correctly.

I had to replace another rim of mine not too long ago and the replacement from AcuraOEMParts.com was pretty solid. I'm sure if I compared them side by side it could be noticeable but nothing too different as far as I could tell.

Yeah. For me, the vibration has gotten to the point where I am going insane. I bought some aftermarket rims and just waiting on my tires to put them on. I cant wait! Afterwards I plan on selling my waffles (for pretty cheap obviously).

I would check the tires. Bent rims usually show their nasty side above 60mph

the new rim is darker color and the old one is lighter color. You can tell in this pic.
