Replacing battery and loss of memory

Hi folks,

i have an '08 TL, base, 5AT. I want to replace the battery but I don't want to lose the seat memory, radio pre-sets, etc. I saw one of those car memory savers that plugs into the OBD II connector and preserves all the settings and memories for the car while you replace the car's battery. Has anyone used one of these and if so, do they work?

Ed

Yes, I have one and use it whenever a job needs to have the battery disconnected.
This the unit I use, but less expensive units should work fine:

You won't lose radio station or seat position presets. You will have to enter your code, though so have that handy.

i have never lost my seat memory or radio presets by disonnecting the battery. For some reason i only lost the XM Radio presets, but i dont use XM anymore, so it doesnt bother me.

Get one of these at Costco:

I used the PowerStation to retain all codes and stuff the last time I changed a battery plus you get a decent air compressor and other features as well. We used this baby when we had a power outage to power some stuff since it has an integrated battery. It also saved me from needing to use the donut spare because I used it to inflate a flat tire and could drive it to the shop for repair.

All you need is the radio code. Nothing is lost.

With the memory unit, nothing is lost, no radio/navigation codes are needed and the unit is useful on other makes as many will lose the presets when the battery is disconnected.
