Replaced Nav lights, now several don't work

Hi all,

So I spent 3 hrs taking the dash apart to replace one burnt bulb on the navi, and while I was at it, I just replaced them all. Well the one I replaced works, but now the drivers side climate control, drivers navi buttons and both seat heaters don't light up. I saw someone had a similar problem years ago, but no solution was posted. Any ideas? I would hate to have to take the dash off again...

thanks

Aazam

I had a similar problem with my gear selector bulb, when i'd tap on it, it would light up. When i took it a part, i saw the bulb was blackened, but I put it in the socket that lights up the armrest compartment and it worked. I still replaced it and after putting everything back, it didn't light up. I checked the harness and i'm getting current on both sides, my guess it maybe the wire got pinched and broke internally. Next step is simply to put new wires.

You must take the dash apart, and use a multimeter to check where the current stops flowing and you'll find your problem.

But how would the navi and seat heater be related?

The seat heater wiring passes under the gear selector and up behind the navi. Mu guess is you must have moved something. Take it a part and test the system without all the screws in place. Just follow the seat heater cable to the harness

hm that's unfortunate. I might have to take it into my mechanic to have him pull it apart again. We don't have a garage and I don't know if i'll have time to do this before the weather turns bad.

Worst part is that now I don't think my seat heaters are even turning on... Gonna be a chilly commute tomorrow morning.

check your seat heater fuses.. you may have popped a fuse while working on the bulbs. You didn't happen to have the foresight to disconnect battery did you?

I checked the fuse, it's fine. I was going to disconnect the battery, then I saw a few videos where they didn't... So I figured one less step... Probably a poor choice in retrospect

I never disconnected the battery, how else would you test the components to see where is the issue?

Well I knew I had one burnt bulb, I didn't have to test it. I'll double check the fuses tomorrow.

I noticed the bulbs in the dash are VERY friggin sensitive. I changed my nav/climate control bulbs to LEDs, and in the process, I was a little rough on the top portion AC/hazard lights and they wouldnt light up anymore (i figure due to impact or hard shaking). Same thing when i was changing my heated seat bulbs before this, when putting back the metal trim back, i must have bumped it a bit too hard around the bulbs area causing it to go out. That's my theory as I know for a fact that my hazard button was working fine right before i removed the AC vents, but after, it wouldn't no more.

Quick question. Do the gear shift positions light up?

Got home early today so I'm gonna check the fuses and pull it apart if needed.

You mean does the light get brighter on the current gear? No, it doesnt. There is one bulb for all the gears

Hm. So I was driving and one of the lights I replaced went out... It's just the one for the menu and map/guide so I'll live without it.

Oem bulbs are garbage. When you go to replace one, I recommend replacing them all. Moving the dash and those interior parts around often is what kills the bulbs.

My best advice would be installing t3 neo wedge LEDs. Longer life brighter bulb less cost.
