Removed Emblems, imprint in clearcoat?

I removed my Acura and TL emblems off of the trunk lid and removed all the glue and there was an imprint still left behind (can see acura and TL in the trunk still). I took it to a detailing shop and they tried wet sanding it twice and buffing it about 5 times on each and you can still clearly see it if your standing in the right light. Any ideas on what to do here? I might just get it repainted and the A removed also, but this is a last resort. Anyone know where to get some black emblems to put back on? Thanks ahead of time!

Thanks for the reply, but those are really expensive. I can get the trunk lid painted for that. They do look good, but not $189 good. THanks again though.

Yup, you can paint your original emblems yourself.

cjTL did so, I believe.

To get the imprint off...what I did was clay the hell out of that spot. I didn't push it hard, but just claying it over and over at that imprint spot.

I say paint the emblems if you don't want to shell out the loot to have the whole trunk repainted

He had a detailer wet sand the area. Twice.

I'm not sure clay is going to help this time.

That sucks. I just rubbed some Goo-Gone on mine and it came out clean.

It sounds like your trunk may have been clear coated at some point and the shop didn't bother to remove the emblems before spraying. Not the first time this has been reported on AZ.
If the wetsand did not remove it, then you will need a respray. Or you can get a can of paint and DIY your emblems and replace them.
There was a thread a while back about using VHT Nightshades to get a black chrome look, but I couldn't make it work. Im waiting on a set of Marcus' emblems now.

i had the same problem that you have. Took off the emblems, and there was a shadow of the emblem visible. I went to a car wash and asked them to use some wax and a buffer to take it off. They used "miracle wax" and a buffer and it came right off. Can't see it anymore at all at any angle.

Hope this helps!
